Sefton Advanced Motorists operate an Associate Scheme for those who seriously wish to pass the Advanced Driving Test and are prepared to accept, and act, on advice given and recommendations made by members of our group who are acting as voluntary 'Observers'. Observers are full members of the institute of Advanced Motorists who have passed the test, of both sexes and who give up their free time to help you achieve the high standard of driving which is required for the test. When you join you will receive our associates pack, which includes relevant information to help you understand the theory of Advanced Motoring, which you are expected to study between "Observed Runs". Your three months associate membership starts when you are allocated an observer which will be on the first evening of the course. Courses run three times a year starting on the 2nd Monday of January, May and September. 'Observed runs' are conducted by your observer sitting beside you in your own car. These runs last between 1 - 2 hours and include a broad range of road and traffic conditions. Your observer will not be offering formal tuition - only advice required to help you achieve the required IAM standard. When your observer feels you have reached this standard you will be asked to contact your examiner arrange your test. Click below to read more about membership packages.
